Smart Management of Microplastic Pollution advisory board meeting
The 1st Advisory Board Meeting Was Successfully Held at Wayne State University, MI Smart Management of Microplastic Pollution in the Great Lakes: Navigating the Issues
The first advisory board meeting took place March 14th, 2019 from 10:00 a.m.– 2:00 p.m. (Eastern Time Zone) at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. There were 36 in-person attendees and 24 online attendees. Objectives for the first advisory board meeting were to facilitate networking and information sharing, seek feedback and suggestions for project design and development, and to foster a shared understanding of the issues associated with microplastics in the Great Lakes.
Participants divided into groups to discuss the following topics: Sensors, Facilities, Policy and Community Engagement. The key points presented from the first discussion session were voted on to identify the most and least important issues. During the second discussion session, board members provided key advice for the project relating to these issues, including strategies, tools, and/or stakeholders to include, and any other issues or themes that had not been covered but that they thought relevant to the success of the project.
